OYM Architect Sdn Bhd was founded by award-winning architect Ar. Ooi Yin Mau, evolving from his previous practices, Ooi Yin Mau Architect(Sole proprietorship) and Rekka Design Atelier Plt. The firm stands as one of the few Malaysian practices recognized through multiple Open International Design Competitions.

Ar. Ooi graduated with First Class Honours from the University of South Australia in 1998. He spent six years honing his expertise as a project architect at Lee Architectural Consultancy, Penang and BEP Akitek, KL, where he delivered Desa ParkCity’s inaugural housing projects, Safa and Nadia. After obtaining his professional qualifications from LAM/PAM in 2004, Ar. Ooi relocated to Ireland to join the RIBA Gold Medalist practice, Scott Tallon Walker Architects. During his eight years in Europe, he contributed to landmark projects such as “Project 2025” for RTÉ (Ireland’s National Broadcaster) and the New Headquarters for the Department of Environment in Wexford.

Returning to Malaysia in late 2012, Ar. Ooi established his current practice in Petaling Jaya in 2014. His international exposure has fostered a multidisciplinary approach to design, influenced by his interests in travel, photography, film, art, and culture. Beyond his practice, Ar. Ooi remains active in the academic community as a frequent guest critic at local universities.
